P&I Names Abbott Capital Among Best Places to Work in Money Management

We’re excited to announce that Pensions & Investments has named Abbott Capital Management, LLC a Best Place to Work in Money Management.

Presented by Pensions & Investments, the global news source of money management, the 10th-annual survey and recognition program is dedicated to identifying and recognizing the best employers in the money management industry.

Abbott’s vision since 1986 has been to build a multi-generational team that could lead and execute Abbott’s investment strategy beyond the active involvement of its two co-founders. Abbott considers succession planning critical to ensuring continuity, and to developing junior members of Abbott. Abbott has organized a succession plan that is active in bringing on, nurturing, and rewarding new staff in all parts of the business. Abbott operates with a horizontal management structure, enabling and encouraging ongoing interaction and involvement among all professionals. Abbott’s professionals are trained and evaluated in a manner that is intended to enhance their professional capabilities due to the apprenticeship nature of the private equity business.

Abbott’s core values are as follows:

  • Client-centricity: We apply a fiduciary mind-set to ensure that everything we do, every day, is ultimately about delivering a better solution or outcome for our clients.
  • Integrity: We aim to recruit, mentor, develop and retain professionals who display the highest level of professional and personal integrity.
  • Intellectual Honesty: We challenge ourselves to find the best ideas for our clients; we encourage open dialogue, apply critical thinking, and rely on unbiased research and analysis.
  • Diversity: We believe that our business is stronger when it includes different perspectives, work experiences, and educational backgrounds, and we strive to maintain a firm that represents that diversity.
  • Collaboration: We feel most engaged in a collegial and cooperative work environment where each of us displays the highest standards of professionalism and respect.

“Now in its 10th year, P&I’s Best Places to Work in Money Management spotlights the unique ways that employers build healthy and thriving work cultures,’’ said Executive Editor Julie Tatge. “This year was no different. The 100 firms profiled in our Dec. 13 issue grappled with myriad challenges posed by the pandemic and met them, helping ensure that their employees felt supported and able to do their best work.’’

Pensions & Investments partnered with Best Companies Group, a research firm specializing in identifying great places to work, to conduct a two-part survey process of employers and their employees. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies.
